UPDATE: JULY 3, 2015

Below are pictures of our backpacks before we left on October 21, 2013 but I have gone through and updated the list to include our most current gear.

Pro tip: Take less. We still have too much stuff.

Welp, we’re officially unemployed now, and one day from leaving!!! Years and years of planning, researching saving and now it’s 12 hours away!!!?? I’m walking around in a perpetual state of “I know I’m forgetting something, OMG WHAT AM I FORGETTING!?!” so it’s an understatement when I say that I’m feeling overwhelmed, excited and everything in between. We’re swimming in emotional baggage but this post isn’t about that today… it’s about another kind of baggage, so let me switch gears.

Everything we’ll need for this journey we’ll carry on our backs. But the kicker is, how the hell do you pack for a trip when you don’t really know where you’re going or how long you’ll be gone? So far, our itinerary revolves around the sun with tickets purchased to Mexico, Hawaii and Thailand but Mongolia and Nepal are also high on our list. So, hiking boots and flip flops? A parka and a two piece? Ugh. We probably should’ve done a little more homework here but we’re actually looking forward to buying clothes on the road (That way my clothes will be cute AND cheap! My favorite adjectives!) so here’s what’s in our bags with lots of humidity and blue skies in mind:
